FIVE SPICE BEEF STIR FRY image

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 Cups Beef Broth
2 TBS Veg. Oil or other
1-1/2 Lbs. Thinly Sliced Beef (sirloin or other)
2 Cut into 1 inch pcs. Green Bell Pepper
1 Medium Diced Onion
1/2 Cup Dry Sherry
2 TBS. Tamari (dark) Soy Sauce
2 TBS. Cornstarch
1 tsp. Five-spice Powder
to Taste Cracked Black Pepper
3 Thinly Sliced Scallions (garnish)
1/2 Cup Whole Smoked Almonds (garnish)

Steps:

  • Place beef broth in a small pot over low heat to warm the liquid. Heat Wok or Skillet over high heat. Add oil (it will smoke) and meat bits. Stir fry 3 minutes and remove from pan.Return pan to heat and add peppers and onions. Stir fry veggies 2 minutes. Add meat back into pan. Add sherry and stir-fry until liquid almost evaporates (1 minute). Add soy sauce to the pan. Dissolve cornstarch with a ladle of beef broth. Add beef broth to pan, then add cornstarch combined with beef broth, the five spice powder and black pepper. Stir sauce until thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Adjust seasonings. Add more soy sauce or sauce if necessary. Remove from heat and serve.
