Feathery Fudge Cake image

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 1/2 ounce(s) unsweetened baking chocolate
3/4 cup(s) butter, softened
2 cup(s) sugar
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
2 - eggs
2 1/4 cup(s) all purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1 1/3 cup(s) water

Steps:

  • Melt baking chocolate in top of double boiler over hot, not boiling water, cool slightly. Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla in large mixer bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs and cooled chocolate; blend well. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; add alternately with water to cream mixture.
  • Pour into two greased and floured 9 inch layer pans. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely; frost as desired.
