Far East Celery, Mom's image

I never liked raw celery, largely due to the strings! I do, however, enjoy the taste of celery in soups and things. This casserole Mom made is full of that softened celery flavor, combined with crunchy water chestnuts. It makes this a favorite, and very easy to make often.

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cup(s) celery, cut in 1" pieces
2 tablespoon(s) butter
1 can(s) cream of chicken soup
10 ounce(s) can of water chestnuts
1/2 cup(s) breadcrumbs
1/4 cup(s) slivered almonds, toasted

Steps:

  • Boil celery in small amount of water 8 minutes. Drain and mix in water chestnuts. Add soup, mix well. Put into a casserole, top with bread crumbs and butter. Add almonds. Bake at 350 degrees 35 minutes.
