EIGHT-LAYER CASSEROLE image

3c (6 oz) dried med noodles
1 lb grnd beef
2 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 tsp dried basil, crushed
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 8 oz carton dairy sour cream
1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
1/2c milk
1/3c chopped onion
1 10 oz package frozen chopped spinach, cooked and well-drained
1c shredded cheese (cheddar)

Steps:

  • 1. Grease a 2 qt casserole. Cook noodles according to directions, drain and set aside. 2. Meanwhile in large skillet cook beef until browned, drain fat. Stir in sauce, basil, sugar, garlic powder, salt, pepper. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. 3. In a med mixing bowl, beat sour cream and cream cheese until smooth. Add milk and onion, stir. Layer half of the noodles in baking dish (2c), 1/12c of meat mixture, 1c of cream cheese mixture, and all of the spinach. Top with remaining meat mixture, them noodles. Cover and chill remaining cream cheese till needed. 4. Cover casserole with lightly greased foil. Bake in 350 degree F oven for 45 minutes. Uncover, spread remaining cream cheese mixture, sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Bake, uncovered 10 minutes or until cheese has melted. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
