My Grandma's recipe and it's purely Southern. This is pretty full-proof unless you over bake it. For those who like desserts that are less sweet, cut down on the amount of sugar. It's always a favorite on my table. Enjoy!

Steps:
- 1. Peel, core and slice the apples and put aside. Prepare your pie crusts or use pre-made crusts, one for the bottom of the pie and one for the top. Mix 1/4 cup of the sugar and the 2 heaping Tbsp. of flour in a measuring cup, mix well. Add the rest of the sugar to the measuring cup to equal just a tad over the "one full cup" mark. Pour into a small bowl.
- 2. Add the cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon and mix well with the sugar/flour mixture. Sprinkle over sliced apples. Add 1/2 cup water over all and dot with a little butter.
- 3. Place top crust on pie, crimp the edge, and cut an "X" in the middle. Bake at 350 degrees until brown and bubbly (approximately 1 hour).
