Yield 12-15 brownies

Number Of Ingredients 13

3/4 cup unsifted flour
1/4 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
1/3 c butter or margarine
3/4 c sugar
2 T water
6 ounces of real semi sweet chocolate
6 ounces of Nestle semi sweet real choc morsels
original receipe calls for 12 ounces of the real chocolate morsels divided
(2 cups total)
1 t vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 c chopped nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325. In a bowl combine the baking soda and salt, set aside. In a small saucepan combine butter, sugar and water. Bring to a boil then remove from heat. Add 6 ounces of real semi sweet chocolate (1 cup) and vanilla extract. Stir until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth. Transfer to a large bowl. Add eggs one at a time mixing well after each addition. Gradually blend in flour mixture. Stir in remaining real semi sweet chocolate morsels and the nuts. Spread into a greased 9 inch baking pan. Bake 30-35 minutes. Cool completely. Cut into 2 1/4 inch squares. I double the receipe and make it in a 13 x 9 x 2. I found it is better to use the good chocolate to melt in the saucepan rather then the choc chips. Choc chip tend to have more wax then a hunk or bar of real "good" chocolate. I have made them without the chips using Lindt bars and they are devine. If you do make them parve use the Swiss parve chocolate bars and they will be wonderful...just leave out the chips and put in either nuts, raisins, dried cherries, currants or nothing else at all.
