Date Loaf Candy image

Every Christmas, my Mom, Aunt Ruth, and I would make Christmas candy. This is one of my favorites! Even if you don't like dates, give it a try!

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 c sugar
1/4 c butter
2 c pecans, in pieces
1 c evaporated milk
8 oz package dates, chopped
sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Dampen kitchen towel, and wring out. Sprinkle with sugar.
  • 2. Combine sugar, butter and milk in heavy saucepan. Boil, stirring occasionally until hard boil stage is reached.
  • 3. Remove from heat. Add dates and pecans, Beat until creamy. SETS UP FAST! Pour onto entire length of damp, sugared cloth . Roll into long log.
  • 4. Cool completely. Slice to serve.
