Crunchy Caramel Apple Pie image

This is the other apple pie I get asked to make, besides the red wine apple pie. Hope you will enjoy this one too. xooxxo

1 pastry for single crust, 9 inch pie
PIE FILLING
1/2 c sugar
3 Tbsp all purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
6-7 medium apples, granny smith (6 cups)
CRUMB TOPPING
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c all purpose flour
1/2 c quick oats
1/2 c butter
TOPPING
1/2 c pecans, in pieces
1/3 c caramel topping, or more :)

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare pie crust, set aside. Heat oven to 375*.Sift together sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt in a large bowl. Add apples and toss to coat. Pour into pie shell. set aside for aminute to prepare your crumb coating.
  • 2. Mix together the brown sugar,oats,1/2 cup of flour. cut in the butter till mix is crumbly. pour over apple mixture.
  • 3. Cover the edges with foil. Bake 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 25-30 minutes more, or until top is a nice golden brown. Remove from oven. sprinkle with chopped pecans and then drizzle caramel topping. Cool on wire rack. Great served warm with ice cream. OMGosh, Im hungry again. :) xoxo
