Creamed Shrimp on Rice or Pasta image

This recipe is a remake of a recipe I found on the internet. It has been changed from the original version- this is the way my family likes it- I hope your family likes it too!! Number Of Ingredients 12

8 Tbsp real butter (1/2 cup)
8 Tbsp all purpose flour (1/2 cup)
2 c milk or cream
16 oz pkg. thawed cooked salad shrimp
12 oz pkg. thawed peas
1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt (lawry's)
1/2 tsp pepper
2 Tbsp chopped chives, fresh
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 c dairy sour cream
2 Tbsp lemon juice
buttered toast or cooked buttered rice,or pasta

Steps:

  • 1. Thaw and drain shrimp and pat with paper towels; set aside. Melt butter in a saucepan and stir in the flour. Stir until smooth and blended. Add the milk or cream and heat for 5 minutes, until smooth and thick. Add the shrimp, peas, salt, pepper, lemon juice, garlic powder,chives and sour cream; heat through. Serve over buttered rice or toast. Sprinkle shredded cheese or French onion over top, if desired.
