Cream Cheese Brownies image

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 c unsifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 c coarsely chopped pecans
8 oz semisweet chocolate
6 Tbsp butter
4 eggs
1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 tsp vanilla extract
6 oz cream cheese, softened
3 Tbsp butter, softened
1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp flour
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • 1. For the chocolate batter, mix 1 cup flour, baking powder, salt and pecans together.
  • 2. Melt the chocolate and 6 tablespoons butter in a double boiler or microwave.
  • 3. Cool slightly.
  • 4. Beat 4 eggs in a bowl.
  • 5. Add 1/2 cups sugar gradually, beating until well mixed.
  • 6. Add the chocolate mixture and mix well.
  • 7. Add the flour mixture and mix well.
  • 8. Stir in the almond extract and 2 teaspoons vanilla.
  • 9. For the cheese topping, beat the cream cheese and 3 tablespoons butter in a mixer bowl until smooth.
  • 10. Add ½ cup sugar, 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons flour and 1 teaspoon vanilla and mix well.
  • 11. Pour 2/3 of the chocolate batter into a buttered and parchment-lined 9 X 12 baking pan. Spread the cream cheese topping.
  • 12. Spoon the remaining chocolate batter over the cream cheese layer.
  • 13. Swirl with a knife to marbleize.
  • 14. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted near the center comes out clean; do not overbake. Cool in the pan.
