Cold Oven Pound Cake image

This is a favorite recipe taken from a church cookbook that I've made many times. It's easy and delicious. I get lots of compliments every time I make it.

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 stick butter or margarine
3 c sugar
5 eggs
3 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 c milk
2 Tbsp vanilla
START THIS RECIPE IN A COLD OVEN.
IF USING A DARK PAN, DECREASE OVEN TEMPERATURE TO 300 DEGREES

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter or margarine and sugar until creamy.
  • 2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • 3. Add flour and salt alternately with milk and vanilla.
  • 4. Pour into greased and floured tube pan and bake in a 325 degree oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.
  • 5. Let cool for 15 minutes in the pan and then unmold on a cooling rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
