Cocoa Sheet Cake image

My mother received this recipe from her friend years ago and it quickly became a family favorite throughout my childhood. It's SO yummy and great to take to reunions, church functions, etc. Enjoy!!

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 cup oleo (margarine)
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 eggs (beaten)
1/2 cup buttermilk (or sour milk)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup oleo (margarine)
4 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • In a sauce pan, put 2 oleo, cocoa and water.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Pour over sugar and flour.
  • Mix well.
  • Add eggs, buttermilk, cinnamon, baking soda, vanilla.
  • Mix well.
  • Pour into greased cookie sheet (with sides about 12x18).
  • Bake @ 350 for 25 minute.
  • FROSTING.
  • In sauce pan, add oleo, cocoa and milk.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Add powdered sugar and sugar.
  • Beat well.
  • Spread on HOT cake.
