Something different than your Apple Crisp, but still delicious! This is a recipe I adapted from a Curtis Stone recipe when he had to show "Take Home Chef"

1/3 cup(s) sugar
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
5 - ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
3/4 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
CRISP TOPPING
3/4 cup(s) flour
1/2 cup(s) sugar
1/2 cup(s) old fashioned or quick cooking oats
1 stick(s) butter, cut into pieces
3/4 cup(s) sliced almonds, coarsely chopped
- pinch of salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Put sugar and cinnamon in an 8 inch square baking dish, mix to distribute the cinnamon evenly. Add in the pears and toss to coat. Sprinkle vanilla extract over pears and mix.
  • In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, oats and salt to blend. Using your fingers, rub the butter into the flour mixture until moist crumbs form. Mix in the almonds.
  • Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the pear mixture. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the fruit is tender and the topping is golden brown.
  • Let set for 10 minutes to cool slightly. Serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.
