Christy's Infamous Green Bean Casserole image

Green bean casserole is iconic at the holidays but this recipe is so good you'll be serving it year around. It takes the traditional green bean casserole (mushroom soup, green beans, and crunchy fried onions and adds a layer of creamy Velveeta cheese. The Velveeta melts into the filling and helps make this casserole super creamy....

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 can(s) Campbell's cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
1 can(s) French's fried onions (small can, 2.8 oz)
2 can(s) Del Monte French-style green beans (14.5 oz each)
1 small block Velveeta cheese (8 oz)
2 c crushed Kellogg's corn flakes
1/2 c butter, melted
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper

Steps:

  • 1. In a 13x9 pan, mix together drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, salt, pepper, and French fried onions.
  • 2. With a cheese slicer, slice the Velveeta cheese. Layer on top of the green bean mixture.
  • 3. Melt butter in a large bowl.
  • 4. Combine with crushed corn flakes.
  • 5. Spread on top of the cheese.
  • 6. Bake uncovered at 375 for 40 minutes - watching that the Corn Flakes do not get too brown.
  • 7. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
