Chocolate Sugar Plum Cookies image

Melted chocolate enriches cookie dough for scrumptious cut-out cookies. Decorated with colored sugars, they make a festive holiday treat and gift.

Yield Makes about 3 dozen cookies or 36 servings, 1 cookie each.

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Unsweetened Chocolate, melted
1/4 cup colored sugar
6 Tbsp. white decorating icing

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in large bowl; set aside. Beat butter in separate large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Gradually add granulated sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating until well blended after each addition. Add chocolate; mix well.
  • Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness on lightly floured surface. Cut with assorted 3-inch cookie cutters; sprinkle with colored sugar. Place, 2 inches apart, on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake 10 to 12 min. or until edges begin to brown. Cool on wire racks. Decorate with icing. Store in loosely covered container at room temperature.
