Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars image

This is an easy go-to recipe that is delicious. It makes a small pan, but can be doubled to a 9x13. It's like having home baked cookies but much easier and faster!

1/2 c butter, room temp or softened
1 c brown sugar, lightly packed
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp baking soda
3/4 c chocolate chips
1/2 c nuts,chopped, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease or prepare a 9 x 9 inch pan with cooking spray.
  • 2. In a medium sized bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar egg and vanilla. Mix until well blended and fluffy.
  • 3. In separate bowl combine dry ingredients except chips and nuts. Mix well. Combine dry ingredients with butter mixture. Mix until blended. Add chips and nuts stir just to mix in - don't over mix.
  • 4. Put batter into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Ovens vary so keep an eye on them, they should be golden brown when done. Remove from oven and cool 30 minutes to 1 hour before cutting and serving.
