Chocolate Cherry Bread (Bread Machine) image

Bread? Dessert? Does it matter what you call it when chocolate and cherries co-star in one luscious yeast bread? This is the best antidote for a mid-afternoon slump.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 cup milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons water
4 teaspoons margarine or butter
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
4 cups bread flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
1/2 cup dried cherries, snipped
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate pieces, chilled

Steps:

  • Add the ingredients to a 2-pound bread machine according to the manufacturers directions. Select the basic white bread cycle. Makes 24 servings.
