Chicken Cheese Soup image

This is a favorite at our school luncheons and was a great way to convince my son that he likes vegetables. It isn't a healthy dinner but good and hot way to fill our bellies while working on the farm in our cold winter months. (we just moved onto a farm in Upstate New York from Kansas)

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 c butter
1/3 c carrots, chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1/3 c celery, chopped
2 c water
1 c flour
4 c millk
4 c chicken broth
16 oz cheese whiz
2-3 chicken breast, chopped
1 Tbsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Saute onion in butter in large pot
  • 2. Add carrot, celery, green onions, and water. cook till tender.
  • 3. Mix together flour and milk then add to large pot.
  • 4. Add chicken broth, cheese whiz, chicken, dry mustard, and cayenne pepper. Heat till hot but DO NOT BOIL. Enjoy
