Ingredients

2/3 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 tablespoons milk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries
2 c. Cornflake crumbs
1/2 c. halved maraschino cherries

Steps:

Cream 2/3 Crisco with 1 c sugar. Then add 2 eggs, beating well. Add 2 tsp vanilla and 4 Tbls milk. Then add 2 c flour with 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp soda and 1/2 tsp salt. Mix in 1 c dates, 1 c pecans and 1/2 c chopped cherries. Roll 1 lg tbls dough (they will about double in size when baked) into ball and roll in cornflake crumbs and top with cherries. Bake on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper (important) and bake at 400 for 10 to 12 minutes. Depends on your stove. Take out when lightly browned. Makes about 4 dozen.
