Cheesy Apple Crisp...Serves 100 image

I have not made this, but have eaten it. Very tasty and bakes rather quickly.A friend of a friend had a catering service. Retired, and My friend and I received several of his recipes. Thought to use them for church dinners.

13 qts apples (about 42 medium) good cooking apples, peeled and sliced,
2 cups water,
1/4 cup plus 2 tbs lemon juice,
8 cups all purpose flour,
8 cups sugar,
2 Tbs cinnamon,
1 Tbs salt,
4 cups butter,
8 cups shredded cheddar cheese,
whipped cream or ice cream,

Steps:

  • 1. Arrange apples in four, greased, 13x9x2 inch pans.Combine water and lemon juice. Sprinkle over apples.
  • 2. Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in cheese, and lightly spread over apples.
  • 3. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes or till apples are tender and topping is lightly browned and crisp. Serve warm, or cool, with whipped cream or ice cream.
