This is the perfect treat to use those less-than-stellar apples, you know the ones-- slightly bruised, a little on the small side, a bit too ugly for the picky eater. The caramel bubbles up and makes the topping gloriously crisp, and your whole house will smell divine!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray an 8x8 or similar sized baking dish with nonstick spray (or butter lightly.)
- Peel, core, and dice the apples; place in a mixing bowl.
- Add granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and salt to apples in bowl; stir well.
- Add caramel sauce to apple mixture, stirring well. Pour mixture into prepared dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, flour, and cold butter. Use fingers or two forks to incorporate butter into mixture and small clumps form. Spread over apple mixture in dish.
- Bake @ 350°F for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving with vanilla ice cream or a splash of cold cream.
