Steps:
- Cream butter until fluffy. Gradually add sugar, beating until light. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture; mix well. Stir in cherries and pecans. Cover airtight and chill 1 hour. Divide dough into thirds. On lightly floured pastry cloth or other surface, with floured hands, shape each piece of dough in a 12 inch roll. Wrap each piece well and chill overnight in the freezer. Cut into 1/4 inch slices. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated 350F oven 12 to 15 minutes or until light brown at the edges. Cool on racks before storing.
