Candied Bacon image

No need to complicate things. This candied bacon is easy to prepare with ingredients you probably already have! Use center cut bacon, as it is thicker and is cut more evenly for consistent baking.

12 slice(s) bacon, center cut
1/4 cup(s) light brown sugar
1 teaspoon(s) black pepper
1/2 teaspoon(s) red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Place oven rack in center of oven. Preheat oven to 350F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil.
  • Cut bacon in half crosswise. Place on the baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Sprinkle sugar mixture over just ONE SIDE of the bacon. Spread evenly over each slice, using your fingers.
  • Bake until bacon is crispy and the sugar is bubbling, about 20 minutes Rotate the baking sheet after 10 minutes.
  • Transfer bacon to a wire rack to cool completely.
