Camping Beef Stew (Crock-Pot) image

1-2 lb stew meat
Meat tenderizer
3/4 cup flour
2 cans Swanson's Beef Broth, divided
1-2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp paprika
1 Tbsp chopped garlic
3 tsp salt and pepper
1 cup finely chopped onion
5-8 potatoes, skinned and cut in big bite size pieces
1/2 small bag baby carrots
1 stalk celery, chopped small tiny size
1 cup water
2 tsp or more Banquet Sauce
3 bay leaves

Steps:

  • Turn LARGE Crock-pot on LOW. Sprinkle stew meat with meat tenderizer, for 5-10 minutes. Put flour in Large Ziploc baggie. Place meat into baggie, shake well and cover meat well with flour.
  • Put meat into bottom of crock-pot. Pour 1 can of beef broth into small mixing bowl adding Worcestershire sauce, paprika, garlic, salt and pepper. Stir until blended. Add broth to crock-pot and stir around meat. Add onion, potatoes, carrots, celery to crock-pot. Add other can of beef broth and 1 cup of water. Stir well. Add Banquet sauce, stir well. Put bay leaves into stew.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 10 hours or LOW for 3 hours and HIGH for 4 hours for faster cooking. Serve with breadsticks or crackers.
