Cajun Hush Puppies image

my dad makes this when he makes fish for us they are good and not to spicy or hot i don't like to hot and spicy but these are great

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cup(s) self rising flour
1 teaspoon(s) onion, minced
3/4 cup(s) milk
1/2 teaspoon(s) cayenne pepper, ground
1 - egg
- peanut oil as required

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except oil then mix well. Heat 1 inch of oil until hot but not smoking.
  • Drop cornmeal mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls into oil to form hush puppies.
  • Cook in batches 2-3 minutes, while turning to brown on all sides.
  • Remove from oil with a slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels on a platter. Serve immediately while still hot.
