Cabbage Casserole My Way image

Oh the healing powers of cabbage! I love to make new casseroles so one day I had a head of cabbage I needed to use, so I came up with this and my husband says this is a keeper.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb ground turkey or lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 Tbsp minced garlic
1 c rice, uncooked + 2 cups water
16 oz tomato sauce
1 1/2 c chicken broth
1 head of chopped cabbage
sea salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Brown meat with onion, garlic, sea salt and pepper in a large skillet.
  • 2. While meat is cooking, cook 1 cup rice with 2 cups of water until almost done. (I microwave, covered for 5 minutes on high, then 10 minutes on 50% power)
  • 3. Add in order given to meat, Rice, 16 oz. tomato sauce 1 ½ cups chicken broth, stir well and then add 1 head of chopped cabbage Cook until Cabbage wilts (about 10 minutes)
