It's simple to make, and you can even prebake the hash brown crusts the day before. Plus you can personalize it using different meats, and even add a few veggies. So, you ready... Steps:
- 1. PREP/PREPARE
- 2. THE HASH BROWN CRUST
- 3. Gather your ingredients.
- 4. Place a rack in the upper position, and preheat the oven to 400f (205c).
- 5. In a small bowl, whisk the egg, and add a bit of salt and pepper, to taste.
- 6. Add to the hash browns, and toss to combine.
- 7. Shape the hash browns into a disk on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 8. Place into the oven and bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
- 9. Remove from the oven, and reserve.
- 10. THE TOPPINGS
- 11. Gather your ingredients.
- 12. Add the breakfast sausage to a skillet over medium heat.
- 13. Cook, breaking up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink.
- 14. Add the eggs into the skillet, and lightly scramble with the sausage
- 15. Add the sausage/egg mixture to the hash brown crust.
- 16. Top with the cheese.
- 17. Add the sliced cherry tomatoes to the top.
- 18. Place in the preheated oven for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
- 19. Chef's Tip: If you want the crust to be a bit more crispy, place it on a raised wire rack.
- 20. PLATE/PRESENT
- 21. Cut into wedges, and serve while still nice and warm.
- 22. If you really want to be decadent, serve with some hollandaise sauce. Enjoy.
