1 egg
1 cup ripe breadfruit, uncooked and mashed
2 tablespoons shortening
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
oil (for frying)

Steps:

  • Beat the egg in a bowl and add uncooked breadfruit pulp and shortening.
  • Mix well.
  • Sift dry ingredients together and add to the egg/pulp/shortening mixture.
  • Mix well.
  • Preheat your frying oil to 370°F.
  • Drop by spoonfuls into oil and fry until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Shake in a bag with sugar to coat outside.
