Breadcrumb Cake image

This recipe was dated 1920. My grandmother recieved it from her older sister Mary Kennedy Mudrak. I only remember having this one time when my Aunt Charlotte Sullivan Smith came to visit. It tasted good...

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 large eggs
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 tsp salt
1/4 c milk
1 1/4 c sugar
2 1/4 c oven dried and toasted bread crumbs

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a cake pan.
  • 2. Beat the eggs, extracts, milk, spices and sugar. Stir in the bread crumbs.
  • 3. Put batter evenly into cake pan. Bake for 40 minutes.
  • 4. This is cake is similar in texure and flavor to a very moist brownie.
  • 5. ***** You can make this in different flavors like chocolate, molasses, banana, carrot, rum, etc. **** You can add other ingredients of choice like chips, nuts, shredded carrots, fried bacon, etc. **** You can frost, but some versions are great without toppings or frostings. **** You can serve with whip cream or ice cream.
