Yield one dunpling

Number Of Ingredients 5

Packaged dry yeast, softened in some warm water
1lb. flour
pinch of salt
Water
Extra flour for kneading

Steps:

  • Mix yeast mixture with flour, salt and water to make a stiff dough. Turn out on floured board, cover and let rise to double in size. About 2 hours Put a large pot of water on stove to boil Uncover dough, add some flour over dough and knead while adding more flour to make an even denser dough. Make sure the flour is totally mixed in and there are no crevices and it;s shaped into a nice compact ball. Cover dough and set aside until water comes to boil. Place dough ball into water, allow it to float to top. (you may need to coax it after a few minutes, because sometimes it sticks to the bottom. Cover and let cook for about 45 minutes or until dumpling has doubled in size and sounds hollow when slapped with a spatula. Remove dumpling from water and place on a bread board. (It should turn out looking like a loaf of bread)Let cool for about 20 minutes. Then slice and serve with main course.
