Bread and Butter Pickles image

I don't remember where this recipe came from. But this is my all-time favorite. So easy to make, So delicious. Hope you enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 8

15 - 4-inch pickling cucumbers
2 1/2 cup(s) sugar
2 cup(s) cider vinegar
1 cup(s) water
1 tablespoon(s) pickling salt
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) white mustard seed
1 tablespoon(s) pickling spice
1 teaspoon(s) celery seed

Steps:

  • Wash cucumbers well.
  • Trim off ends as well as any bad spots or marks.
  • Slice paper-thin. A mandolin works well.
  • Wrap the pickling spices in a cheesecloth.
  • Mix all pickling ingredients together. Bring to a boil
  • Add cucumbers.
  • Bring to a boil and boil exactly two minutes. Discard spice bag.
  • Fill sterilized jars with cucumbers. Pour boiling pickling over cucumbers. Strain out some of the mustard seed.
  • Divide equally among jars.
  • Seal jars and turn upside down to cool. Makes 4 pints.
