Bourbon Maple Syrup Baked Pears image

I needed something sweet to serve alongside Thanksgiving dinner one year, that was not a dessert. Threw this together easily and there were none left-over. :)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 ripe red pears
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp soft brown sugar
1/4 tsp nutmeg
2 Tbsp melted unsalted butter
1 pkg chopped pecans or walnuts
1 c bourbon barrel aged maple syrup
0 if you cannot find this surup, 1/2 tsp bourbon in 1 c maple syrup will work.

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400. Slice pears in half and carve out the very middle of each half, place cut side up in a glass baking dish
  • 2. Mix spices, brown sugar, and syrup in a bowl
  • 3. Drizzle half of the syrup mixture over the top of the pears
  • 4. Place pears in oven and bake for 10 minutes
  • 5. Pull pears out of oven and top with the chopped nuts and drizzle with the rest of the syrup mixture.
  • 6. Place pears back into oven and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the tip of the pear skin curls and pear is soft
  • 7. Serve warm.
