Blister Beans image

Use your favorite beans if you do not like these. Tasty beans without the sugar. I love the fiery taste of Tabasco™, but you might want to back off that ingredient to remove some of the blister.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (15 ounce) can black beans
1 (15.5 ounce) can black-eyed peas
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon ground cumin
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
½ teaspoon prepared brown mustard
1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce, or to taste

Steps:

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the black beans and black-eyed peas with their juices. Season with garlic powder, cumin, ginger, salt, onion flakes, mustard, and hot pepper sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for about 20 minutes to combine the flavors.
