12 med. Bosc pears, peeled, leaving stems in tact
bowl of water mixed with juice of one lemon
1 1/2 C. water mixed with 5/8 C. sugar
1/2 C. white port or dry sherry
1/2 C. Grand Marnier
3 strips of orange peel
2 t. orange extract (opt.)
2 C. whipping cream
2 or 3 T. powdered sugar
shaved semi sweet chocolate

Steps:

  • Drop peeled pears into lemon water . In a saucepan simmer 5 min. 1 1/2 C. water and the sugar. Arrange pears in baking dish. Pour over them the sherry, liquor, sugar syrup and 1/2 C. lemon water. Add orange peel. Cover with foil and bake at 375 degrees for 30 min. Turn pears over. re cover and bake another 20 minutes. Carefully transfer to a cool dish and allow to come to room temp. To serve: place pear in a bowl, ladle some syrup over top with sweetened whipped cream and shaved chocolate
