Baked Apple Pudding image

A co-worker made this baked apple pudding for desert at work, when I tried it I thought it was good, but lacking something. I got the recipe from her to make it myself. I followed the recipe and changed nothing and it was so delicious I could not believe it was the same recipe she used. What was lacking is, is that she did a lot...

Time 1h30m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 c sugar
3/4 c soft butter
1 egg
2 c apples, thinly sliced
1/4 tsp salt
1 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp nutmeg
sauce:
1/2 c butter
1 c sugar
1/2 c half & half (light cream)
1 tsp vanilla

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 Cream butter and sugar, add egg and beat well, add apples Combine dry ingredients and add to cream mixture. Bake in greased 8 by 8 baking dish at for about 45 minutes.
  • 2. Sauce: Heat butter, sugar and cream on low heat for 15 minutes, stirring until slightly thick, add vanilla. Serve over warm pudding.
  • 3. I heat the sauce until hot and then set the timer for 15 minutes and stir constantly until the timer goes off. I also, spoon this all over the top of the warm pudding (it soaks in as it cools) and then wait for it to cool until warm to serve it. I think it taste the best at room temp. Cover loosely or it will stick to the cover. I refrigerate it (if it makes it there) but let it get room temperature before serving it.
