Autumn Barm Bread image

While this bread baked, the Test Kitchen was filled with the aroma of Autumn. The melted butter gives a nice crunchy crust to this bread. It's moist and a hint of orange flavor from the zest and Grand Mariner. I loved the pop of sweetness from the Craisins. You taste fall in every bite. It's delightful!

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 cup(s) flour
3 tablespoon(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tablespoon(s) baking powder
1 teaspoon(s) sea salt pink
1 bottle(s) Blue Moon pumpkin beer (room temp)
5 ounce(s) Craisins (pomegranate juice infused)
1 tablespoon(s) orange zest
2 teaspoon(s) Grand Marnier
4 tablespoon(s) butter, melted (Irish organic)
- Joy of Cooking spray

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375. Spray loaf pan with Joy of Cooking spray.
  • In a bowl, stir together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Sprinkle in zest. Place Craisins in a small bowl, with a sprinkle of flour and mix through with fingers to separate. Then put into dry mixture and mix through. Make a well.
  • Open beer and add all at once; it will foam up. Add Grand Mariner. Stir briskly just until combined, about 20 strokes. Batter should be slightly lumpy.
  • Pour batter into prepared loaf pan, and drizzle top with melted butter.
  • Bake until the top is crusty and a toothpick is inserted and comes out clean, between 35-45 minutes. Let rest in the pan for 5 min then turn out onto rack. Serve warm, or at room temp. It is great toasted with butter or apple butter. It also Is great if you use the orange and make a nice glaze and pour over it.
