Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Thaw pie dough or puff pastry.
- 2. Add 1 - 2 Tbsp of flour to your surface before you put the dough or puff pastry down so they do not stick.
- 3. Unroll sheets and cut each sheet into 4 pieces.
- 4. Peel and chop apples and add to bowl with lemon juice.
- 5. Add walnuts, brown sugar, and spices. Mix together. If apples are juicy, you can add a little flour to the mixture to absorb the juice.
- 6. Fill half of one pastry piece with a spoonful of apple mixture.
- 7. Fold over to form into a turnover.
- 8. Rub inside edge with egg wash and seal. Repeat with remaining pastry pieces.
- 9. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Lay turnovers on paper. Make 2 or 3 slits on each turnover, to let steam escape.
- 10. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle lightly with sugar.
- 11. Place in oven and bake for 20 minutes. You can use other fruits for filling.
