Apple Mince Walnut Pie image

We suggest using a combination of cooking apples such as Jonagold, McIntosh, Rome, Winesap, or Golden Delicious for the best flavor.

1/2 cup(s) sugar
4 cup(s) apples, peeled and chopped
1 tablespoon(s) flour
1/2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
1 dash(es) nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon(s) salt
3 cup(s) mincemeat
1/2 cup(s) walnuts, chopped
2 tablespoon(s) butter
1 - 9-inch pie crust, enough for a double crust

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, flour, spices and salt in a bowl. Add apples, Mix lightly. Add mincemeat and walnuts; mix well.
  • Heap into pastry lined 9 inch pie pan, dot with butter. Adjust top crust, flite edges, and cut vents.
  • Brush top crust with milk, sprinkle with sugar. Bake in a 425F oven for 50 to 60 minutes or until crust is browned and apples are tender. Cool on rack
