10 Bean & Ham soup image

Ok now this recipe is a little different. The prep time depends on whether or not you begin soaking your beans in the morning or over night.

Number Of Ingredients 16

1/3 cup(s) pinto beans
1/3 cup(s) great northern beans
1/3 cup(s) red beans
1/8 cup(s) kidney beans
1/8 cup(s) white beans
2 tablespoon(s) salt
1 large onion chopped
1 teaspoon(s) chili powder
1/2 cup(s) red wine {optional}
1/4 cup(s) garbanzo beans
1/3 cup(s) blackeye peas
1/3 cup(s) black beans
1/3 cup(s) lentils
2 - ham hock, smoked
1 can(s) hunts fire roasted tomatoes
1 clove(s) garlic chopped

Steps:

  • Cover the beans with water to an inch past the beans & 2 tbsp of salt. Let them soak
  • After soaking, drain then add 2 qts of water & ham hocks, simmer 3 hours
  • Add onion, chili powder, tomatoes, garlic & red wine, simmer another hour
