All 3 of my kids loved this growing up and request it when they come to visit. When I tell people whats in it, they give me the yuck face, but once they try it, they like it and want the recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 15

2 lb hamburger
1 onion-chopped
1 can(s) pork and beans-do not drain
3 c water
2 can(s) abc vegetable soup..beef
1 stalk celery, thinly sliced..optional
1 1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp thyme leaves
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cumin
CHEESE BISCUITS
1 pkg brown and serve rolls
1 c shredded chedder cheese..i prefer sharp
1/4 c softened butter or margarine

Steps:

  • 1. Brown beef, celery and onion til brown. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
  • 2. preheat oven to 425. In a small bowl, mix together cheese and butter til mixed. Split each brown and serve roll and spread alteast 1 tbl. of cheese mixture on each one, replace tops. Heat on cookie sheet til cheese melts, about 8-10 minutes.
  • 3. * I usually double this whole recipe, including rolls..everyone loves dipping thier cheesy rolls in the juice of the stew.

5 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup shortening
1 (1/4 ounce) package dry yeast
1/2 cup water (warm)
2 cups buttermilk (room temperature)

Steps:

  • Dissolve yeast into 1/2 warm water, set aside.
  • Sift together first five ingredients.
  • Using 2 knives cut in 1/2 cup shortening into mix till mixture in pea like in size; add dissolved yeast.
  • Add buttermilk and mix well.
  • Roll out on floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness.
  • Use a round cookie cutter or just cut into squares.
  • Bake at 400°F 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush tops with melted butter.

4 teaspoons dry ranch salad dressing mix
2/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted

5 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
3/4 cup milk
1/2 pound bacon, diced
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 cups picante sauce
2 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro
6 eggs

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the first five ingredients. cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. With a fork, stir in milk until the mixture forms a ball. Turn onto a floured surface; knead 8-10 times. Roll to 1/2-in. thickness; cut out 12 biscuits with a 2-in. biscuit cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown., Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook bacon until almost crisp; drain. Add onion and chili powder; cook until onion is tender. Stir in picante sauce and cilantro. Make six wells in picante mixture; break an egg into each. Cover and cook over medium heat until eggs are completely set. Serve over warm biscuits.
