This is the BEST grilled cheese sandwich ever!! Friends taught me how to make it. I had it EVERYDAY cuz it was really that good. =) The bread is cheese bread-like. For every person I've made it for, they love it so much and it's supereasy that they make it for others. ENJOY!!!

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 slices whole wheat bread
1 slice cheese (American cheese)
Pam cooking spray
grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • For this sandwich, I used the George Foreman Grill, but any panini grill will work also.
  • Spray PAM on one side of the bread. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on the PAM sprayed side. Place the slice of bread with the grated parmesan side down. Place a slice of cheese on top. Put the second slice of bread on top of the cheese.
  • Spray PAM on the top side of the second slice of bread. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on top.
  • Close your grill and wait.
  • ENJOY!

Use rye or pumpernickel bread and Swiss cheese for variety. Note correct method of preparing the bread in step 1.

8 slices whole wheat bread (whole-wheat or multigrain)
8 teaspoons light butter (light or reduced-fat) or 8 teaspoons margarine (light or reduced-fat)
6 ounces low-fat cheddar cheese (nonfat or reduced-fat) or 6 ounces American cheese, thinly sliced (nonfat or reduced-fat)

Steps:

  • Arrange bread slices on flat surface.
  • Spray 1 side of each slice with the butter cooking spray or spread with 1 teaspoons of the light butter or reduced-fat margarine.
  • Preheat large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat and place sandwiches in it.
  • Cook for about 3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is toasted and cheese is melted.
  • Cut each sandwich in half, and serve hot.
