Fun dessert for kids. Garnish cups with gummy worms, frogs, and flowers.

2 cups cold milk
1 (4 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 (16 ounce) package chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed

Steps:

  • Beat milk and pudding mix together in a bowl until well blended and slightly thickened; let stand to thicken, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir whipped topping and 1/2 of the crushed cookies into pudding. Spoon 1 tablespoon crushed cookies into each serving cup. Fill each cup 3/4-full with pudding mixture and top with remaining crushed cookies. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

This is a great conversation piece at parties. Adults love it as much as the children do. Get a new garden trowel, medium sized flower pot and artificial flower at a craft store for full effect.

½ cup butter, softened
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
½ cup confectioners' sugar
2 (3.5 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
3 ½ cups milk
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
32 ounces chocolate sandwich cookies with creme filling

Steps:

  • Chop cookies very fine in food processor. The white cream will disappear.
  • Mix butter, cream cheese, and sugar in bowl.
  • In a large bowl mix milk, pudding and whipped topping together.
  • Combine pudding mixture and cream mixture together.
  • Layer in flower pot, starting with cookies then cream mixture. Repeat layers.
  • Chill until ready to serve.
  • Add artificial flower and trowel. Enjoy!

Dirt Cake is fun to serve at family gatherings, or to give as a gift. I've also taken it to church dinners. It not only tastes good but is unique.

1 package (15-1/2 ounces) Oreo cookies
2 clean new plastic flower pots, about 6 inches in diameter
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups whole milk
2 packages (3.4 ounces each) instant vanilla pudding mix
1 carton (12 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
Silk flowers, aluminum foil, gummy worms and clean new gardening tools, optional

Steps:

  • Crush cookies until they resemble potting soil. Divide half of the crumbs between the flower pots. Set pots and remaining crumbs aside., In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. In another bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes (mixture will be thick). Fold in whipped topping. Gently fold into cream cheese mixture until blended., Add filling to pots; top with reserved crumbs. Cover and refrigerate until chilled. If desired, wrap silk flower stems in foil; add to flower pots. Decorate with gummy worms and display with gardening tools if desired.

1 (20 ounce) package chocolate sandwich cookies with creme filling
¼ cup butter, softened
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 (3.9 ounce) packages instant chocolate pudding mix
3 cups milk
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
15 gummi worms

Steps:

  • Put the cookies in a food processor and process until they become fine crumbs. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the butter or margarine, cream cheese, confectioners sugar and vanilla flavoring. Beat on low speed to mix then beat on medium speed until smooth. Add the chocolate pudding mix and milk to the bowl. Beat on low speed to combine.
  • Fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture with a rubber spatula.
  • Assemble in the ungreased 9x13 inch pan in layers as follows: first layer, 1/3 cookie crumbs; second layer, 1/2 pudding mixture; third layer, 1/3 cookie crumbs; fifth layer, 1/3 cookie crumbs.
  • Tuck the ends of gummy worms in the cookie "dirt". Be sure to have a worm on each piece. Store in the refrigerator. Chill for at least 3 hours before serving. Cut into 15 squares, or serve with a clean garden trowel or a toy sand shovel if serving in the flower pot.

I served Dirt Cake to my grandpa and he almost wouldn't eat it! It is difficult to tell if it's something to eat or look at. That's not the case with my daughters-they always request it for their birthday cake.

2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 packages (3.9 ounces each) instant chocolate fudge pudding mix
3-1/2 cups cold milk
1 carton (12 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 plastic flowerpot (8-inch diameter)
1 package (20 ounces) chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed
Artificial flowers, gummy worms and plastic shovel, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream together cream cheese and butter. Add sugar; set aside. In a separate bowl, mix pudding, milk and whipped topping until smooth. Add creamed mixture. Line inside of flowerpot with plastic wrap, making sure hole in bottom of pot is covered. Place one-third of crushed cookies in pot and top with half of cream cheese/pudding mixture. Repeat layers, ending with cookies. Refrigerate overnight. If desired, decorate cake with flowers, gummy worms and a plastic shovel.
