2 lbs ground elk
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 lb shaved black forest ham
1/2 package onion soup mix
1 egg
2 packages Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Unroll crescent rolls and roll seams together.
  • Mix Elk meat, egg, bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce and onion soup mix and spread over dough.
  • Sprinkle the cheese over meat and lay thin slices of ham over the cheese.
  • Roll and pinch ends together and put on clay stone (a pizza stone will work).
  • Bake at 375 degrees F.
  • for 45 min.
  • and let stand for 20 minutes.
  • Slice and serve.
  • Will serve six adults.

"ON A PASTOR'S BUDGET and with seven children, we didn't have steak very often. But we were just as satisfied with this wonderful dish Mom dreamed up-a country-style "steak" with creamy gravy. It was always a hit with our family.

1 cup water
1 cup cracker crumbs
1 teaspoon salt
3 pounds ground beef
All-purpose flour
2 to 3 tablespoons canola oil
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine water, cracker crumbs and salt; add beef and mix well. Press into a 15x10x1-in. baking pan lined with waxed paper. Cover and refrigerate overnight. , Cut the meat into 12 squares. Coat each square lightly with flour. In a large skillet, cook over medium heat in oil, a few pieces at a time, until a thermometer reads 160° and juices run clear; drain. , Remove waxed paper from the baking pan; spread the soup in bottom of pan. Place meat squares in a single layer over soup. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until heated through; Spoon some soup over each meat square.

Trying new recipes is one of my favorite hobbies. It's also the most gratifying. What could beat the smiles and compliments of the ones you love? This recipe is easy yet fancy, perfect for when it's just you and one kid or a friend.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
1 tablespoon butter
2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon pepper, divided
1/2 cup half-and-half cream
1 large egg yolk
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 pound ground beef
1 tube (4 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
Large egg, lightly beaten, optional
1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, saute mushrooms in butter until softened. Stir in flour and 1/8 teaspoon pepper until blended. Gradually add the cream. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside., In a bowl, combine the egg yolk, onion, 2 tablespoons mushroom sauce, salt and remaining 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 2 loaves. Separate crescent dough into 2 rectangles on a baking sheet. Seal perforations. Place a meat loaf on each rectangle. Bring dough edges together and pinch to seal. If desired, brush with egg wash. Bake at 350° until golden brown and a thermometer inserted into meat loaf reads 160°, 24-28 minutes., Meanwhile, warm remaining sauce over low heat; stir in parsley. Serve sauce with Wellingtons.
