1 pound ground beef
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
5 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 large onion, sliced
2 cans (10-3/4 ounces each) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1/2 cup 2% milk
Minced fresh parsley

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Season with pepper and garlic powder. Layer the beef, potatoes and onion slices in a shallow 2-qt. baking dish. Combine soup and milk; pour over all. , Cover and bake at 350° for 1-1/4 hours or until potatoes are tender. Garnish with parsley.,

There is nothing poor-tasting about Chuck Hughes' pudding, a rich and tasty traditional French-Canadian dessert.

2 cups/500ml pure maple syrup
1 cup/250ml 35-percent cream
1/2 cup/125ml brown sugar
1/4 cup/60ml butter
1 cup/250ml butter, at room temperature
1 cup/250ml sugar
1 tablespoon/15ml pure vanilla extract
2 cups/500ml all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons/10ml baking powder
Pinch salt
1 cup/250ml milk
Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • For the maple sauce: Bring the maple syrup, cream, brown sugar and butter to a boil in a saucepan. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • For the batter: Cream the butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl with a mixer. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and beating until just combined.
  • Divide the batter among 8 ramekins. Pour the syrup over the batter. Bake until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center of the pudding comes out clean, about 35 minutes.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

When I was growing up and when we didn't have much money, my Mom would make this for our Breakfast. It was't fancy, but it was good and filled our bellies. To make this even heartier, she would serve this on the side Recipe #141251.Now this was a meal that would stay with you :)The time for peeling the potatoes is included in the prep time.If you like you can add more meat.The amount of salt and pepper you use is up to you. 1 1/2 cups peeled peeled washed and thinly sliced russet potatoes
1/8 cup of all- vegetable shortening (PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY OIL )
1/8 cup of chopped sweet onion (optional)
1 1/2-2 ounces diced Spam or 1 1/2-2 ounces bologna
3 eggs, beaten well
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Melt shortening in a 8 inch cast iron skillet over medium heat.
  • When shortening is hot but not smoking, add potatoes and onions ( if using )sprinkle with desired amount of salt and pepper.
  • Cover with lid and cook potatoes until slightly softened, about 10 minutes.
  • Remove lid, add meat and turn mixture over.
  • Cover with lid and cook about 10 more minutes.
  • Remove lid and cook until potatoes are almost browned.
  • Push potatoes mixture to one side, and add eggs.
  • Scramble eggs until desired doneness is reached.
  • Just before eggs are cooked, push potato mixture into the eggs, and finish cooking eggs.
  • Eat and ENJOY :).

Pierogies in a pan! This is a wonderful, rich casserole that tastes just like potato and cheese pierogies (without all the fuss!) Nice, hearty comfort food!! Can be served as a main dish with veggies or a salad, or as a side dish.

Number Of Ingredients 7

9 -12 lasagna noodles
1 1/4 cups butter (no substitutes!)
4 medium onions, sliced
10 -12 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 dash salt and black pepper
1 (1 lb) box Velveeta cheese, cubed
grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Saute onion in 1 stick butter until tender.
  • Cook noodles as directed on box.
  • Boil potatoes, then mash.
  • Add cubed cheese, salt, pepper, and remaining butter to potatoes and mix until well combined.
  • Put layer of noodles in 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Layer 1/3 of sauteed onions over noodles, then 1/3 of potato mixture.
  • Repeat layers, ending with potatoes on top.
  • Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.
