I had a pear martini at a restaurant while visiting my brother over Thanksgiving. I've been trying to recreate it ever since I got home! This isn't it but it's my new go-to holiday libation. The ginger is my addition because I'd add ginger to almost anything. If you don't agree, sub vanilla vodka for the ginger liqueur and you'll have a yummy pear martini.

2 fluid ounces pear vodka
2 fluid ounces pear juice

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice; add vodka, pear juice, and ginger liqueur. Cover shaker and shake; strain drink into a chilled martini glass and garnish with nutmeg.

2 1/2 tablespoons light syrup, from canned pears
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1/2 lime, juice of
2 1/2 ounces vodka
pear, slice (garnish) (optional)

Steps:

  • muddle the pear, pear syrup and simple syrup in cocktail shaker.
  • Add other ingredients and shake with ice.
  • Strain into cocktail glass.
  • Thinly slice the pear, and hang on martini glass.

Rosemary syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
4 4-inch rosemary sprigs
Martini
1 750-ml bottle premium vodka
5 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 tablespoons Poire Williams (clear pear brandy)
12 ice cubes
12 small rosemary sprigs

Steps:

  • For rosemary syrup:
  • Bring sugar and water to boil in small saucepan, stirring to dissolve sugar. Add rosemary sprigs. Reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes. Cool mixture completely. Discard rosemary.
  • For martini:
  • Mix rosemary syrup, vodka, lemon juice, and brandy in large pitcher. Cover pitcher with plastic wrap and place in freezer until mixture is cold, about 3 hours. Remove pitcher from freezer; add ice cubes. Stir briskly to melt ice partially. Strain mixture into chilled Martini glasses. Garnish each glass with rosemary sprig.

  • Do ahead: Peel skin from ginger root with the side of a spoon. Finely grate enough ginger to prepare as many drinks as needed. To make one cocktail drink: Juice lime and pour into martini shaker.
