PEANUT BUTTER AND BANANA PUPCAKES (DOG TREATS)

Peanut Butter and Banana Pupcakes (Dog Treats) image

I adapted this recipe from "the poop pantry" http://www.thepoop.com/pooppantry/bananapupcakes.asp We took out the flour (because they say dogs are not supposed to eat wheat), and also removed the vanilla extract (she can't taste the difference so why add un-natural ingredients). I added peanut butter for extra flavor and protein. I usually halve the recipe so that it fills one mini muffin tin pan. You can freeze extras so you always have yummy treats ready!

BANANA AND PEANUT BUTTER DOG TREATS

Banana and Peanut Butter Dog Treats image

My dog just loves these. When I have some bananas left, I can divide them in half and freeze them. I only make a half batch at once since he is small, but if your dog is bigger or if you like to give many treats to your pet, make a whole batch. You could even freeze some after making them if properly stored in a freezer bag or container.

Provided by Barbara Kavorkian

Categories     For Pets

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 - egg
1/3 cup(s) peanut butter, smooth, lower sugar or natural is better
1/2 cup(s) mashed banana (about 1 banana)
1 tablespoon(s) honey
1 cup(s) whole wheat flour
1/2 cup(s) wheat germ
1 - egg white, lightly beaten for brushing

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 300° F. Lightly spray a baking sheet.
  • 2. Stir together the egg, peanut butter, banana, and honey in a medium bowl to blend thoroughly. Slowly stir in the flour and wheat germ; mix well. Place a piece of wax paper onto board or counter top and flour. Turn dough out onto the floured paper and place another sprinkle of flour and top with another piece of wax paper. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick and remove top layer of wax paper. Cut into desired shapes with a cookie cutter, place on prepared baking sheet, and brush tops with egg white if desired.
  • 3. Bake biscuits in preheated oven until dried and golden brown, about 20-25 minutes, depending on size. I would closely watch these after 15 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
  • 4. No wheat germ??? Try using quick oats instead. Roughly grind it in a food grinder or coffee grinder for the right consistency, or you can use as is. Works just the same.

PEANUT BUTTER PUMPKIN DOG TREATS RECIPE - (4.6/5)

Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dog Treats Recipe - (4.6/5) image

Provided by AzWench

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
2 eggs
1/2 cup oats (optional if your dog is on a grain free diet)
3 cups whole wheat flour, brown rice flour, or gluten free flour
3 tablespoon of all natural peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In small bowl, stir together the flour, oats, and cinnamon. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin and peanut butter until combined. Stir wet ingredients into dry. Pour onto a floured surface and roll dough out to 1/2 thick. Cut out using cookie cutter. The dough will be a little sticky, a dusting of flour for your hands and the rolling pin will help! Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown. Place on cooling racks and let cool thoroughly. They will harden as they cool. Notes: *Cinnamon is fine to use in recipes for dogs, however do not use a pumpkin spice blend or anything that could contain nutmeg. It is toxic to dogs and even in small amounts can make them sick. Recipe adapted from Sweet Peas Kitchen
