2 pounds red potatoes, sliced 1/2 inch thick
1/3 cup canola oil
1 envelope onion soup mix

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a large plastic bag; shake until well coated. Empty bag into an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Cover and bake at 350° for 35 minutes, stirring occasionally. Uncover and bake 15 minutes longer or until potatoes are tender.

**** lipton beef onion soup mix ****(recipe)
3/4 c minced onions
1/3 c beef bouillon, powdered or cube crushed
4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed celery seed
1/4 tsp sugar....directions: mix together all ingredients. store in an air-tight container.5 tablespoons of this mix is equal to 1(1.25-oz.) package.

4 medium baking potatoes...for 2 people
1/3 c olive oil
1/4 c soup mix powder (from above recipe)

Steps:

  • 1. Quarter potatoes length wise, then in half. Put in a bowl aand sprinkle olive oil on them. Then sprinkle onion soup mix (from above) on them Put on a ribbed cookie sheet. These delicious roasted potatoes are super easy to make. They would be a great addition to any meal.

2 pounds potatoes or about 5 or 6 medium sized potatoes (You can use any kind of potato.)
1/3 cup olive oil
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Steps:

  • Wash and cut unpeeled potatoes into chunks. I make 2 bowls and toss potatoes in olive oil and then in onion soup mix that is whisked together with black pepper and garlic powder.
  • Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Spread potatoes on sheet and bake in preheated 425 degree oven for about 40 minutes or until nicely browned and cooked. Turn potatoes with spatula after 20 minutes.

2 pounds potatoes, sliced into 1/2-inch-thick pieces
1 onion, halved and each half cut into quarters
½ cup canola oil
½ cup olive oil
4 cloves garlic
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary, or more to taste
1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Combine potatoes and onion in a roasting pan; cover with canola oil and olive oil. Add garlic, onion soup mix, rosemary, and black pepper and stir until potatoes and onion are evenly coated. Cover roasting pan with aluminum foil.
  • Roast in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and continue to roast until potatoes and onion are browned and edges are crispy, 15 to 30 minutes.

1/4-1/3 cup olive oil or 1/4-1/3 cup vegetable oil

Roasting the onions gives the soup a rich caramelised flavour that really hits the spot on a chilly day

800g yellow or white onions , sliced
4 tbsp olive oil
1l vegetable stock
1 tbsp wholegrain mustard
1 tsp Marmite
handful parsley , roughly chopped
8 thick slices bread
100g soft vegetarian goat's cheese , cubed

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Put the onions in a roasting tin with the oil, salt and pepper. Give it a good stir, then roast for 45 mins, stirring halfway through, until the onions are tinged brown, but not burnt.
  • Tip the onions into a large pan with the stock, mustard and Marmite. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 mins, then stir in the parsley. Toast 4 of the bread slices then scatter on the cheese. Ladle the soup into bowls, pop a toast into each and serve with the extra slices of bread on the side.
