One Skillet Beef Tips with Peppers and Onions image

This easy one skillet recipe for beef tips with peppers and onions is hearty, full of flavor, and exactly what you need for a quick weeknight dinner. Not only is this recipe easy and delicious, it is also Whole30 compliant, Paleo friendly, and gluten free. It is sure to be a new family favorite.

1 ½ tbsp ghee or avocado oil
1 pound sirloin steak, cut into small bite sized pieces
2 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 red bell pepper, diced into large chunks
1 orange bell pepper, diced into large chunks
½ yellow onion, sliced
1 ½ cups sliced baby bella mushrooms
¼ cup sliced green onion, for garnish

Steps:

  • Add the steak to a mixing bowl and season with salt and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the skillet is hot, you can add in the ghee. Next, add the steak bites to the skillet cook for 3-5 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove the meat from the pan and set aside.
  • Add the apple cider vinegar to the skillet to deglaze the pan. Then, add the minced garlic, onion, mushrooms, and diced peppers. Cook the veggies for 10-12 more minutes until the sliced onion is translucent and the bell peppers are tender yet crisp.
  • Add the steak and its juices back to the skillet. When the beef is back in the pan, give everything a good stir until well combined and cook for 2-3 more minutes until the steak is hot.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and garnish with fresh sliced green onion before serving.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion (chopped)
2 pounds cubed chuck (or stew meat)
10 ½ ounces beef broth
10 ½ ounces French onion soup (condensed)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
salt & pepper (to taste)
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/3 cup water

Steps:

  • In a large pot or dutch oven, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Season beef with salt and pepper and brown in small batches. Remove beef from the pot and set aside.
  • Turn heat down to medium, add remaining oil and onion. Cook until softened, about 10 minutes.
  • Add beef, broth, soup, Worcestershire sauce and bay leaf to the pot. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat to simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until beef is fork tender.
  • To thicken gravy, combine cornstarch with 1/3 cup cold water. Pour into the beef a little at a time while stirring until it reaches desired consistency.
  • Taste and season with salt and pepper. Discard bay leaf and serve over mashed potatoes.

This meal has been a favorite for many years. It is basically beef tips browned and slowly cooked until tender. We usually serve this with homemade mashed potatoes and corn.

1 tablespoon butter, or to taste
1 pound beef stew meat, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
2 (10.75 ounce) cans cream of mushroom soup
2 ½ cups milk
salt and ground black pepper to taste
4 potatoes, peeled and cubed, or more to taste
¼ cup butter, or to taste
¼ cup milk, or to taste
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 (15.25 ounce) cans whole kernel corn, drained

Steps:

  • Cook in a large skillet over medium heat until browned on all sides, about 20 minutes. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, 2 1/2 cups milk, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened to gravy consistency, at least 1 hour.
  • Place potatoes into a large pot and cover with water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain. Add 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup milk, salt, and pepper; beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Heat corn in a saucepan over medium heat until tender, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Pour beef and gravy mixture over mashed potatoes and place corn on the side to serve.

One Skillet Savory Beef Tips and Gravy combines beef tenderloin, mushrooms, onions and garlic in a rich creamy gravy that is lightly seasoned. It is quick to prepare and mouthwatering delicious. It is amazing served over Amish Country extra wide home style noodles. If you prefer mashed potatoes that is delicious as well.

3 Tbsp butter
1/2 lb sliced crimini mushrooms
1/2 c finely chopped onion
2 large cloves garlic minced
1 lb beef tenderloin or good quality beef steak ( i use petite shoulder) cut in bite size strips
2 Tbsp flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
2 Tbsp olive oil
1/3 c good quality red wine
1 (14 ounce) can low sodium beef broth
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/4 c flour
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Add butter to large skillet over medium high heat. When melted toss in mushrooms and cook until light golden brown; approximately 8 minutes. Add onions and continue cooking for 2-3 minutes or until onions start to soften and mushrooms turn golden brown. Reduce heat to low and add garlic; cook for 30 seconds. Remove from pan and plate.
  • 2. In large ziploc bag add flour, steak bites, salt and pepper. Shake to coat. Add olive oil to skillet over medium high heat. Add steak and cook just until browned. Remove to plate.
  • 3. Add red wine to skillet and deglaze the pan; scraping up the brown bits from the bottom. Pour 1/2 cup of beef broth in bowl and set aside. Add REMAINING beef broth and Worcestershire Sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes; stirring a couple of times.
  • 4. In small bowl whisk together beef broth and 1/4 cup flour. Whisk flour mixture into skillet with beef broth mixture. Cook until slightly thickened; approximately 2 minutes. Add mushroom mixture and beef back to pan; simmer for 5-10 minutes. Salt & pepper to taste. Serve over egg noodles, rice or mashed potatoes.
