1 lb cooked pork sausage, sliced
1 small yellow onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 jar (25.5 oz) Muir Glen™ organic pasta sauce tomato basil
1 can (14.5 oz) Muir Glen™ organic diced tomatoes, undrained
1/2 cup Progresso™ chicken broth (from 32-oz carton)
20 oz refrigerated cheese tortellini
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz)
6 fresh basil leaves, chopped

Steps:

  • In 12-inch skillet, cook sliced sausage, onion and garlic 5 to 7 minutes or until onion softens and sausage starts to brown.
  • Stir in sauce, tomatoes, chicken broth and tortellini. Cover and simmer 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tortellini is cooked.
  • Remove from heat; sprinkle with cheese and basil. Serve when cheese has melted.

1 lb hot Italian sausage
1 tablespoon roasted garlic, minced
1/2 cup onion, diced
1 (9 ounce) package refrigerated cheese tortellini
1 (26 ounce) jar tomato and basil pasta sauce (I use Bertolli)
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 1/2 cups water
1 teaspoon garlic salt (or to taste)

Steps:

  • Place onions, garlic and olive oil in large saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Squeeze sausage from casing into pan.
  • Cook until meat is brown and no pink remains (about 10 minutes), stirring frequently and breaking meat up as it cooks.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to boil and cook 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce thickens.

It's technically a 'one-skillet' dish, but the idea is the same - everything goes into the skillet and dishes are kept at a minimum.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound spicy Italian sausage, casings removed, crumbled
3 cups spaghetti sauce
½ cup water
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 (20 ounce) package fresh cheese tortellini
1 cup mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add crumbled sausage. Cook and stir until sausage is browned and no longer pink, 5 to 10 minutes. Stir in spaghetti sauce, water, and Italian seasoning. Add tortellini and mix well.
  • Bring liquid in the skillet to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until tortellini are tender, about 8 minutes.
  • Set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler to low.
  • Remove skillet from heat. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over tortellini.
  • Place skillet under broiler and cook until cheese is melted, 2 to 3 minutes.
