ALL IN ONE PAN CAKE (AKA WACKY CAKE)
I thought this recipe looked familiar when I first saw it and I was right. My Mom used to make this cake for every birthday celebrated in the house but she called it wacky cake. What makes it wacky? There are no eggs or dairy in it.

Steps:
- In an 8x8 inch square baking pan combine the flour, cocoa, sugar, salt and baking soda. Mix until it is completely light brown.
- When it is mixed, make 4 dents in the mixture with a spoon, 2 large dents and 2 small dents.
- Pour the water into one of the large dents.
- Pour the oil into the other large dent.
- Pour vanilla into one of the small dents.
- Pour vinegar into the other small dent.
- Stir until well moistened.
- When batter is well mixed, smooth it out and spread into place with a spatula.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 30 minutes before cutting it into squares.
CRAZY CAKE
This cake was popular during the Depression, and does not have eggs in it.

- Sift flour, sugar, salt, soda, and cocoa together into a 9 x 13 inch ungreased cake pan. Make three wells. Pour oil into one well, vinegar into second, and vanilla into third well. Pour cold water over all, and stir well with fork.
- Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 40 minutes, or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean. Frost with your favorite icing.

- In a small bowl, beat the sugar, water, oil, vinegar and vanilla until well blended. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into sugar mixture until blended. , Pour into a greased 9x5-in. loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. , Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with confectioners' sugar if desired.
